Activities

In addition to the many spontaneous adventures I am sure we will encounter en route, there are a few planned ones…

Mount Mulanje, Malawi (28 April – 2 May)
The small town of Mulanje in the south of Malawi is the centre of Malawi’s tea growing industry. This quaint settlement is overshadowed by Mount Mulanje, the highest peak in south-central Africa. The mountain has a well organized system of trails and huts, leading through forests of large cedar trees. We will be staying in log-cabin-luxury during the four day hike which will be led by an experienced local guide.

Located within the indigenous mountains of Northern Malawi, mushroom farm offers a unique environment full of hammocks, laughter, good food, affordable accommodation and a peaceful place to relax and unwind. As an eco-lodge, they are 100% off the grid and believe in responsible tourism along with sustainable development. Expect to encounter hippies.

Congo Nile Trail, Rwanda (17 May – 29 May)
A trail from the northern tip of Lake Kivu in Rwanda. The hike covers 227km over 10 days and ends in the beautiful Nyungwe Forest.

Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda (29 May – 30 May)
Gorillas! We’re hiking, then spotting, then staring awkwardly for long periods of time while they try to act natural. It’s going to be great. Uganda is the more traditional Gorilla spotting destination but I am told that Rwanda tends to be better managed and you are more likely to see them.
